4. Never leave shears wrapped in a damp towel or pouch
It's a common shortcut at the end of a busy shift: fold the shear into the same towel used for cleanup, or drop it back into a fabric pouch before the blade has fully dried. Both create a small enclosed space where moisture has nowhere to evaporate to, so it just sits against the steel overnight.
